Real Food for Thriving Families - We produce the food we couldn't buy in the store
Healthy Soil = Nutrient Rich Plants = Healthy Animals = Thriving Families
Tierra Vida Ranch is nestled in the Sierra Foothills just north of Sacramento, California. The property has had cattle ranging on it for hundreds of years. Irrigation water runs thru the property in a canal that is managed by the Nevada Irrigation District (NID).
Tierra Vida is a family business that started off with the goal of growing our own food so that we could be sure what was in it. After all, food is the fuel that you give your body, and if you don't know what is in your food, how do you know what you are putting into your body? It is a pretty scary thought! If your body runs on this fuel, how does this affect your body? Would you knowingly put unpredictable fuel in your car? No, right? So why do it to your body?
The story went a little deeper than this because Julie had severe food allergies and is very sensitive to GMO's and other pesticides. She had been getting worse and worse for years, despite reading all food labels and only eating organic food that shouldn't bother her. When she became intolerant to all food except for grass-fed/grass-finished beef and some fresh vegetables, we decided that we would do an experiment to see what happened if she ate only food produced on the ranch...food that we knew for certain didn't include any "bad stuff". It only took a year of eating off the ranch before she was able to turn the corner and start adding some of the yummy, healthy food she had been missing back into her diet!
We are a family business and everyone is involved:
Farming like this is a way of life for us. Its not the only thing we do, but it is super important to us. When we aren't farming or researching something new, we like to have big adventures which we document on our YouTube channel, PaleoKid Adventures.
Elyse even created a video about her life and favorite things to do As you can see, nature and our connection to is is a big part of our lives. We are deeply invested in doing our part to demonstrate a better way to feed the world.
When you purchase your food from us, you are not only supporting our family, but you are also helping us to improve the land and fueling your body with healthy food.

- John manages the almond orchard, the sheep, the beef and maintains everything
- Julie does all the marketing and fills in for the kids when they have school and schedule conflicts.
