Pastured Poultry for Thriving Families
Healthy Soil = Nutrient Rich Plants = Healthy Animals = Thriving Families
Today we call the chicken we raise at Tierra Vida Ranch pasture-raised, free range, cage-free, local, beyond organic, humane, biodynamic, sustainable, regenerative, and more. But 100 years ago it was just called chicken!
We raise the chicken that we want to eat and that we can’t purchase in the store. Yep, we do this because we got fed up. When Julie could not seem to heal her leaky gut and her autoimmune issues were causing inflammation, joint pain and severe food allergies she realized that she couldn’t completely even trust the food she was buying at the local health food stores.
“Free Range” meant little. “Cage Free” meant even less. Julie is allergic to soy and corn and can’t eat the meat or eggs from animals that have been fed either. So we started buying truly grass fed, grass finished beef from our neighbor and bought 24 egg-layer chicks to start. A year later we found ourselves with 80+ egg layers and some very happy customers so we decided to raise our first 100 meat chickens. Things have continued to grow as we focus on spreading the word to our neighbors and the local community.
